What You Need To Do To Get Your Body Burning Fat Again

For the last 20-30 years we have all been bombarded with a vast array of diets and diet plans. Every you turn you see them "Lose 30 pounds in 20 days" "Thin thighs in 8 minutes a day" or "Fast weight loss guaranteed". It is little wonder that we get sucked into these programs with promises like that. After all losing excess fat weight is important with two thirds of us being overweight.

But our bodies can only take so much of this sort of treatment and at some point will stop responding to these diet programs. It is called a plateau but it is really your body saying 'enough already' and it takes steps to protect itself from the stress you are putting on it.

If you are guilty of overstressing your body with restrictive diets and excessive long duration exercise you have actually been damaging your metabolism (your body's engine) along with speeding up the aging process. Once you reach this point further weight loss becomes impossible and you start risking your overall health by trying.

Part of what has happened is that your body's hormones will be 'out of whack' and you will need to go through a sort of healing process before you can reclaim your slim healthy body. What you need to do in this transition is restore a healthy metabolism, improve your body composition (muscle/fat ratio) re-balance your hormones and achieve improved health. In other words you have to get healthy to lose weight.

Your body will not release its fat stores while under stress - whether it is from not eating correctly, lack of physical movement, or not enough restorative sleep so you can only be in this transition when you have set about improving your exercise, nutrition and lifestyle habits. You may not wish to do this but the trade off is you will need to get very used to being overweight as that is what the outcome will be and will stay that way for as long as your carry this mindset.

When you embark of your transition process by improving your habits your body will respond by rebalancing its hormones that had become inefficient from previous poor habits. The more damage to your metabolic motor the longer it will take to fix.

Firstly you need to put in place a proper strength training exercise program so your body composition can be made healthy again. Only rebuilding and re-toning your muscle tissue will increase the metabolic rate so you burn more fuel (calories). Be aware that only strength training exercise can do this - no amount of long duration, single mode, low intensity activity can do it...not anytime soon...not ever.

Support this program and to create plenty of energy so you can put some effort into your exercise sessions ditch as much processed foods from your life as possible,. Replace with natural whole foods that you cook from scratch. While you are eating refined and processed foods you can forget about losing weight as your hormones will continue to be thrown out of balance with the chemicals and additives they contain. Eating these foods will not take an overweight body and change it into a strong healthy one.

Think of this journey as your new part time job. Like any new job new skills will be needed and these may include developing higher motivation levels along with learning how to eat better and get your 2-3 proper exercise sessions done each week.

Instead of getting wages you will be getting something way more precious that no amount of money can buy - your brand new strong, slim, healthy body.
